Java is a small and simple language.Many features of C&C++ that are either redundant are source of unreliable code are not part of Java.For example Java don't use pointers,preprocessor header files and goto statement etc.It also eliminates operator overloading and multiple inheritance.
Familiarity is another striking feature of Java.Java use many constructs of C,C++.In fact Java is a simplified version of C++.
